Tired and Wired: Unlock the secret to sleep in midlife

Join us for an in-depth conversation with Dr Kat Lederle, our resident sleep scientist and circadian rhythm specialist. And learn about the impact of menopause on our sleep patterns and how we can use the latest research into circadian rhythms to create a new toolkit for rest.

Tuesday 18th March 2025, 7.30pm BST. On Zoom

Why attend:

Did you know 60% of us will struggle with sleep during our menopause transition? Dr Kat Lederle will help us to explore why our hormones influence our sleep and the practices that work to reclaim rest in menopause.

What to expect:

Therapeutic sleep coaching helps you end your bedtime battles because fighting with sleeplessness never gets you anywhere. Instead it just keeps you stuck.

Dr Kat's methods explore knowledge and practical tools you need to sleep and feel well, whether you struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep or get enough sleep.

They also teach you how to handle the anxiety, loneliness, frustration and, for some, the guilt that can show up with not sleeping.

What you will leave with:

Dr Kat will share with us her three principles of sleep coaching and how we can incorporate strategies to restore our sleep patterns:

  • Be aware: Noticing all your experiences, including your thoughts, feelings and memories in the present moment
  • Open up: Choosing to allow experiences in rather than block them out
  • Stay true: Actively pursuing the things that matter to you and that are in line with your values so that you feel truly happy and fulfilled

About our speaker:

Dr Kat Lederle obtained her PhD (in Human Circadian Physiology & Behaviour) from the University of Surrey in 2010. She is a member of the British Sleep Society, the German Sleep Society and the European Sleep Society. She is also a member of The Compassionate Mind Foundation and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.

She believes that good sleep is essential for flourishing in life – it’s what underpins your physical and mental health. Her focus is on helping individuals, and in particular menopausal women, who experience poor sleep or insomnia to sleep well again and be the person they want to be – happier, healthier and more productive. In her therapeutic sleep coaching practice she mixes her sleep science and body clock expertise with Mindfulness and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
